Lake of the Ozarks

Featuring 92 miles of main channel, this man made lake offers a wide choice of water sports, including boating, fishing, skiing, and swimming. Literally thousands of quiet coves dot the 1375 miles of scenic shoreline.

Bagnell Dam was begun many years ago, before the beginning of the Great Depression, in August of 1929 and was completed in April of 1931. Since the summer of 1931, millions of visitors and vacationers have flocked to the Lake of the Ozarks to enjoy its overwhelming beauty and activities. With its 1300 miles of shoreline, the Lake of the Ozarks has played host to boaters, skiers and those who just enjoy the beauty that it offers.
Bagnell Dam Strip
The Historic Bagnell Dam Strip, located next to Bagnell Dam in Lake of the Ozarks, is a favorite for locals and visitors alike. Also known as "the strip", it is host to a wide variety of touristy shops and outlets including crafts, clothing, accessories, souvenirs, t-shirt shops,restaurants, arcades and amusements.
You know you've entered the strip when you come to Rebal Arcade and the big Indian by the batting cages and Two Bit Town. At the bottom of the hill is Bagnell Damwhere it all started. There, you can enjoy a scenic sky ride or take a cruise on the Tom Sawyer or Larry Don excursion boats.
Directly below the Bagnell Dam Strip is the American Legion Campground, where you can camp or fish. Many music festivals and events are held each year at American Legion and "the strip." The Strip is the place where tourists and local teens alike hang out and cruise up and down in the evenings to meet people.
