Caboose Junction Resort

162 Caboose Ln,
Lampe, MO
Caboose Junction Resort was the brainchild of Will and Pat Palmer, who moved to Lampe, Mo., in 1972. The couple wanted to offer a vacation experience like no other in the Ozarks, so they decided to convert six authentic Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway cabooses into charming resort units.
The couple's decision was a big hit as visitors from all across the U.S. continue to come for a stay in the resort cabooses, which border beautiful Table Rock Lake and offer many outdoor, family-oriented activities. Guests also take advantage of the numerous attractions nearby, including Eureka Springs, Silver Dollar City, Shepherd of the Hills, Branson and much, much more.

This is a great place to stay! I sat out on the deck and enjoyed the great view. Then I went inside, opened the curtains and enjoyed the same great view. I could have stayed in the condo all week but don't do that. You gotta enjoy the lake too!

Well it's already been a really busy spring and as usual, I am behind on getting the report out to everyone. The lake has really come up over the past month and we are finally back to normal pool, or just a little under. The water has had a really tough time getting out of the mid 40's, but with the warm weather the past couple days, we are finally seeing surface temps hit the lower 50's.
The walleye bite has been really good so far this spring. So far we have caught walleye on every trip, and some of them have been up around 4 lbs. We have caught several fish over 20". The best way to catch them over the next 2 weeks is early and late, or all night if you can stay awake, with a jerk bait, or a swimming shad. The walleye are in the middle of the spawn and when you are there at the right time, you can have some fun. Fish main lake points and rocky shores from Ruark to the dam and you can catch them up the river arms also. If you must fish during the day, use a 1/8 oz jig head and a crawler and drift across points in 12 foot of water.
The crappie are on their way to the beds, but with the colder water they have slowed the progress. There are a few fish that are being caught up the river arms and on brush piles in 18 foot of water. This should change quickly over the next 2 weeks and the bite should go crazy.
The bass bite has been really good all winter and the fish are now on the secondary points taging to spawn. Jigs, jerkbaits, and a rig should get you some good fish this time of year. I have seen several fish over 5 lbs being caught, and released over the past month. The fish are mainly staying in about 12 foot of water right now, but will be moving shallow as the spawn approaches.
The white bass have finally started up the rivers. Use a white grub to catch them while they make their spring run up the rivers. The further up you can go, the more fish you will catch.
This goes for the walleye too.
